Welcome to Grandma's Cabin
Looking for the perfect Island Park cabin rental for a winter get away? Are you planning a special family Holiday this year? Or, maybe just looking for the perfect base camp for cross country skiing, Idaho and Montana snowmobiling, or a winter visit to Yellowstone Park?
Grandma's Cabin is the perfect place. A cozy Idaho log cabin, filled with all the amenities, but just minutes away from cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, and both Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. Ice Fishing on Island Park Reservoir and Heben Lake Montana offer the best in late-season fishing.
Grandma’s Cabin is open year round with easy access just 3 blocks off Highway 20. We are located only 90 miles north of Idaho Falls, Idaho or 30 miles southwest of West Yellowstone, Montana (and Yellowstone Park!). This makes us the perfect option for lodging for nearby West Yellowstone and Yellowstone Park. It’s also a short distance to restaurants, stores and services in Island Park if you want to sneak away for an espresso or some extra groceries.
Looking for a unique vacation adventure? From December 15th through March 15th, you can access the wintry wonderland of Yellowstone's interior through oversnow tours leaving West Yellowstone daily. Snowmobile or snowcoach tours offer a rare glimpse into Yellowstone's quiet season. The snow covered landscape, frozen waterfalls and frosted trees when, contrasted with geysers and other geothermal features, creates a surreal winterscape. Frosty bison and elk are often seen along the roads, while snowy fields make it easier to spot coyotes, foxes, and wolves.
Outside Yellowstone Park there are millions of acres of public lands for snowmobilers to explore. Explore over 600 hundred miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the surrounding National Forests. Snowmobile right from Grandma's Cabin onto the well-marked trail system which leads to spectacular scenery and exhilarating back country powder. With all the new snow, we will soon be grooming snowmobile trails.
Winter brings its own wintry wonderland magic to Grandma’s Cabin. Ski or snowmobile right from your door. Snowmobilers love the 600 miles of inter-connected groomed snowmobile trails in Idaho and Montana. Check out the snowmobile trail map and trail descriptions. Don’t miss the “Snow Ghosts” trees on Two Top Mountain. Or, sled to Big Springs to look for moose and feed the fish.
Cross-country skiers can enjoy nearby Harriman State Park of Idaho and Targhee National Forest trails or take on the renowned Rendezvous Ski Trail system in West Yellowstone just a short drive away. You can also ski into Yellowstone Park on the Riverside Trail starting right in West Yellowstone.
Or, take a day and experience Yellowstone in winter. Guided Yellowstone Snowmobile tours or Yellowstone Snowcoach tours are available daily. Or, try the Yellowstone’s Riverside cross-country ski trail or travel or ski the trails around Old Faithful – the wintry heart of Yellowstone Park.
Grandma’s Cabin is a special legacy from a mother to her daughters and grandchildren. It has its own warm history and fun-filled memories for our family.
