Island Park Community Fundraiserwill have a silent auction, craft fair, breakfast and yard sale. This event raises money for the Island Park Community Fund that aids members of our community in times of need.

  The 10th annual Haunts of Harriman Halloween party in Harriman State Park’s historic Railroad Ranch district, 6:30 - 9 p.m. Hay rides, trick-or-treating, Haunted House, and carnival. This year’s theme is the “The Wild, Wild West” and admission will be dried or canned food for local food banks. Island Park Christmas Festival, sponsored by the Island Park Historical Society at the Mack's Inn Theater. Craft Fair & Food Sale. 2 to 8 p. m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Baked goods, soup, chili, hot dogs, Great holiday shopping! Live entertainment, 6 p. m. Friday. Santa Claus visits at 7 p. m. Friday.Festive holiday luncheon and auction, noon Saturday. Auction items include: decorated artificial Christmas trees, wreathes, gift baskets, and holiday decorations. Proceeds from auction go to local charities. Donate an auction item designate the local charity of your choice to receive the proceeds. Saturday lunch reservations are required. November 2010 - Sportsmen's Club Annual Wild Game Feed
Bring your favorite wild fish, game or bird cooking to the Island Park Sportsmen's Club annual wild game feed & membership drive. Join in the fun at Pond's Lodge. Dinner starts at 7:00 pm.

November 2010 - Yellowstone Ski Festival

This is a must for every cross-country skier! West Yellowstone literally comes alive in lycra in November. Hundreds of Nordic ski enthusiasts from all over the world, novice to expert, gather to learn more about the sport, practice techniques and see new equipment. Early snows, superb grooming, racing opportunities and the Nordic Skiing Exposition make this an especially inviting time. On-snow clinics take place between November 19-23. SuperTour Ski Races will be held on Friday and Saturday.

Yellowstone's West Entrance closes to motorized vehicles until December 15, 2009 when it will re-open to over-the-snow travel of Snowmobiles and Snowcoaches.

Christmas for the Critters at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center. Share in the joy of the season by donating food to the bears and wolves (please call the Center for specific food needs) and enjoy a snow filled day watching the animals play.   Yes! Yellowstone is open in the winter. By over-the-snow travel that is! You may choose to travel by Snowmobile or Snow Coach. Take a full day tour to Old Faithful or the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and return to Grandma's Cabin for a relaxing evening.

Plan your weekend around the Wild West WinterFest set for Friday, Saturday & Sunday. This years WinterFest will include a torchlight snowmobile parade and fireworks, ice sculptures, casino night, quilt block contest, coloring contest, snowmobile scavenger hunt and a kids snowmobile competition and much more.

January 2011 - Harriman State Park - Free Ski Day

Have you always wanted to try nordic skiing or want to take your family but can't afford to? Want to learn how to build a survival snow cave? Take advantage of Free Ski day in January. The Idaho Falls Nordic Ski Patrol will be at the park offering lessons to those that want to learn the basics to Nordic skiing. A guided ski tour will be offered that will take you up the River Trail to the Historic Ranch. The Historic Jones House will be open to go inside and warm up, and hot drinks will be available there. January 2011 - Rally 4 A Reason
The only female cross country snowmobile event in the lower 48 states. Proceeds from this event benefit the Women's Breat Cancer Research and the Island Park Ambulance.

February 2011 - Ashton Dog Derby

  This historic dog sled race that runs from Ashton, Idaho to Yellowstone Park, is an exciting experience for mushers and spectators alike. There are 5 different races offered and a start/finish line full of activities including a celebrity race, a snowshoe race, and a weight pull in which spectators and their dogs can compete. Plan to visit beautiful Ashton for this years American Dog Derby.

Feathers 'n' Fins Freestyle Skiathon Harriman State Park is hosting its second skiathon. The event is a freestyle ski designed for all folks interested in getting out on the trails offering 7km, 10km, and 20km distances. Are you a person that likes to participate in Fun Runs in the summer and misses that exercise in the winter? Well this event is for you. Registration is $25/person, $30 late registration.   A terrific end and beginning for snowmobilers! The World Snowmobile Expo culminates a year of Sno-Cross racing for many Rocky Mountain competitors with four days racing. Then, snowmobile manufacturers and after-market companies strut their 2011 stuff at the World Snowmobile Exposition Hall. Nighttime activities include a “Funny-Money” Casino night and plenty of laughs. Plan now to attend!

March 2011 - West Yellowstone Youth Festival

Only for kids and sponsored by the West Yellowstone Ski Education Foundation. The Youth Festival is an opportunity for our future Olympians, World Cup Skiers and National Masters competitors to participate in an event that is just for them. A series of fun events such as obstacle course, matched sprints, relay and speed trap are included.

March 2011 - Winter Photo Festival
Photographers are invited to share their favorite winter photos of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. Join us at the West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce, Visitor Center at 7:00 pm. Participants need to register by March 6, 2010. Contact Rich Jalhe (307) 344-2840

  Dubois Grouse Days is an annual celebration of Sage Grouse! Sage grouse have interesting breeding behavior where males and females gather in the spring on sage-brush covered "leks." Males fan their plumage, "dance," and display their air sacs to attract females. Field trips to sage grouse leks, lectures, children's activities, a raffle, and a banquet are all a part of this small town Idaho event.   Yellowstone National Park West Entrance opens for vehicle travel. Mammoth to Norris Juncation to Madison Junction to Old Faithful; Madison Junction to West Entrance. In addition, Norris Junction to Canyon opens to wheeled vehicles.

July, 2011 - Craft Fair - Island Park Library Friends
The Island Park Library Friends, 9th annual Arts and Crafts Fair is Friday 12-7pm, Saturday 10am to 6pm, and Sunday 10am to 4pm. During this three-day event, artists and crafter's offer a variety of unique handmade items, including wood carvings, metal work, photography, jewelry, Indian art work, quilts and wildlife cabin decor items. Grandma's Cabin

Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. We had a wonderful vacation. Fished for two days and caught lots of fish and have now fallen in love with fly-fishing.
