Spring at Grandma's Cabin

Looking for your own quiet piece of heaven? The perfect
home away from home? A cozy Idaho log cabin, filled with all the amenities,
but just minutes away from blue-ribbon trout streams, hiking or biking, birdwatching,
cross-country skiing or snowmobiling, and Yellowstone National Park and Grand
Teton National Parks.
Grandma’s Cabin is a special place, snuggled in the heart of Island Park, Idaho amid towering lodgepole pines, snow-capped mountains reflected in brilliant blue lakes.
Grandma’s Cabin is open year round with easy access just 3 blocks off Highway 20. Only 90 miles north of Idaho Falls, ID or 30 miles southwest of West Yellowstone, MT (and Yellowstone Park!) makes it the perfect base for any Yellowstone vacation or Idaho western adventure. It’s also easy walking distance to stores and service in Island Park if you want to sneak away for an ice cream cone or some extra groceries.
Opening to vehicle travel on April 18, 2008, you can drive into Yellowstone Park each day through the west entrance at West Yellowstone. See the world famous “Old Faithful” geyser, plus elk, bison, grizzly bears and maybe even the famous Yellowstone wolves. Return at night, away from the hustle and bustle of high-priced tourist towns, to witness the quiet beauty of an Idaho sunset from your own porch.
World-class fly-fishing and blue-ribbon trout streams abound. Try out the nearby Henry’s Fork, Warm River, or Buffalo River. Try lake fishing on Island Park Reservoir or Henry’s Lake. Jump over the Montana border for the Madison and Gallatin Rivers or Hebgen Lake.
Every season brings its own adventures. Take your kids on a walk down to the creek and catch some tadpoles! Don’t miss the new moose calves that appear each spring at Big Springs. Hike trails in the Targhee National Forest or try a horseback ride in Harriman State Park. Crisp fall days with warm afternoons and chilly nights for snuggling have their own romance.
Winter brings its own wintry wonderland magic to Grandma’s Cabin. Ski or snowmobile right from your door. Snowmobilers love the 600 miles of inter-connected groomed snowmobile trails in Idaho and Montana. Cross-country skiers can enjoy nearby Harriman State Park trails or take on the renowned Rendezvous Ski Trail system in West Yellowstone just a short drive away. Or, take a day and experience Yellowstone in winter. Guided Yellowstone snowmobile tours or Yellowstone snowcoach tours are available daily. Or, try the Yellowstone’s Riverside cross-country ski trail or travel or ski the trails around Old Faithful – the wintry heart of Yellowstone Park.
Grandma’s Cabin was a special legacy from a grandmother to her daughters and grandchildren. It has its own warm history and fun-filled memories for our family. We want to extend this same memorable experience to your mountain family vacation, Yellowstone weekend-getaway with your friends, special honeymoon or even if you are just passing through. From our family to yours….please come and visit us!
