Spring is the best time of year…
Outstanding fishing, wildflower walks and wildlife viewing usher in spring at Grandma’s Cabin. Spring is considered one of the “shoulder seasons” here. The hustle and bustle of summer visitors has not yet arrived, making it a perfect time to visit.
Before Yellowstone opens each spring, the park opens its west entrance for non-motorized travel to bikers, hikers and walkers. Entrance fees’ are waived and those who enter are rewarded by a quiet peacefulness.
Spring is the best time of year to see wildlife in Island Park and the surrounding areas. We have an abundance of wildlife to view including moose, big horn sheep, elk and bison. Watch the skies for bald eagles, osprey and other raptors and don’t forget to keep an eye out for grizzly and black bears. Mid-May is the perfect time to see Yellowstone’s bison calves and by early to mid June elk calves and other Yellowstone babies are often be seen as well.
The Grizzly Wolf & Discovery Center is open every day of the year in West Yellowstone. Observe grizzly bears and wolves in their natural habitats and visit the hands-on bear exhibit. A great time for kids!
